GOP nominees

The Golden Canon has released its best books for 2008. It's probably redundant to note that among these evangelicals there are no women authors of note. Go figure. The list reads like a list of GOP nominees...

It's ain't what you know - it's who you know - look at the Pulitzer.

And so it will likely remain until the ordination of women finds its way into the wider church. Or was Paul off his meds when he wrote Gal. 3:28? I don't think so, but it's surprising how easily we gloss right over the open door of those words.

John in PDX: Yes. It is partly who you know but the truth of the matter is that historically the church has sought to silence women. So it isn't suprising, really, that in some circles of Christian publishing the voice of women continues to be ignored. Disappointing but not surprising.
There are so many well-written books by women on the market. And I don't mean just women novelists, though there are those too. Maybe there's a reason they call this the Golden Canon of 2008. It heralds back to a dark age where women were treated much like the Taliban treats their women.
