What's your addiction?

I'm on the road again today. Off to the valley for more research on a new project. Stephan's interview at Williamsburg went very well. Thanks to all who prayed. He should hear something soon. Shelby had her first byline in the paper yesterday -- on Farm Fair. It was on B1, above the fold. That insider lingo for good play. I warned her she'd never be bored and I was right. She came home the first day and declared, "I don't know how you did it, Mom! And you had deadlines everyday and four kids."
"And I wrote a book," I added, smugly.
It helped that Tim pitched in quite a bit.
For all you literary folks, or just for you folks that are driven, I wanted to share a piece that I heard while I was at Fairhope. Joshilyn Jackson, author of the bestselling gods in Alabama wrote it. Joshilyn is a terrific reader, leaving her audiences breathless as we try to keep up with her quick wit and sharp mind.
Now, here's the disclaimer. The first part of this piece is PG-13 or maybe R-rated. I don't know how those ratings work any more. But press on through that and you'll see that Joshilyn is making a very valid point and one that I think is the best explanation I've ever heard about what drives me, and maybe you. Affirmation is an addiction as sure as any on the street. The thing is, we shouldn't treat it as a black-market commodity.
