A sense of humor or a form of hate?

A bit irreverent. That's one commentator's summation after Kathy Griffin, a self-described "militant atheist", said "nobody had less to do with this award (her Emmy) than Jesus." Griffin went on to raise her award skyward and yell, "Suck it Jesus!"

Imagine Mel Gibson standing onstage, raising an award and yelling, "Suck it, Mohammad!!"

Think then that the response would be, "Awww, shucks, it was a only a joke" ?

 Here's Kathy's full remarks:

"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus," an exultant Griffin said, holding up her statuette. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now."

And I didn't think Hollywood could get any worse than Britney Spears's self-destructive performance at the MTV awards.

What do you think? Was Kathy joking with Jesus? Or was her behavior something else entirely? Is this a prejudice against believers that is tolerated, even encouraged?
